What can a non-fishing person do?
In and around Lakselv there are many things to do. In Lakselv you can play golf on a 9-hole course or you can go hiking in the mountains. Close by you also have good places to sail in canoe on rivers or you can go for a sightseeing trip on the Porsanger fjord. Lakselv is only a 2 hour drive away from famous North Cape and the town of Alta. Therefor we recommend non-fishing guests to book a rental car so that they can be independent of the anglers in the group and make the most of their stay.
Can you hire or buy equipment?
Yes, we rent out tackle. Please contact us for more information. In the shop you will find brands like Rio, Sage and Patagonia. So if you need leaders, tippets, flies, hooks, rods, reels, clothing and accessories, you will find it in the shop. You can pay with almost any credit or debit cards in the shop.
Is it only catch and release?
We strongly encourage our guests to practice catch and release, because we release 99% of our fish. Click here to read more.
Do you offer laundry service?
We offer laundry service for our guests at Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge for free.
Can we hire a rental car?
Yes, if you arrive in Lakselv airport you have several options for renting a car.
Are there any supermarkets and restaurants in town?
Yes, there are good opportunities to shop groceries in town and there is a few local restaurants too.
Are there any ATM in Lakselv?
Yes, there is one and it is 24 hour-open. You can find the ATM here.
How far is the lodges and cottages from the airport?
There is a 10 min drive from Lakselv airport to Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge and Holmen. It is 15 min to the Stangnes Salmon Lodge.
Are there a lot of mosquitos?
We recommend that you bring mosquito spray, because there can be days where there will be a lot of mosquito, especially at the river.
Are there any hotels in the town of Lakselv?
We recommend Lakselv Hotel and Porsanger Vertshus. Both hotels offer single and double rooms and food and beverage.

Do I need an adapter for my phone and computer?
Both lodges and Holmen is supplying 220v to Northern European 2-pin plugs so travel adapters are required if you dont have same system at home.
Are there a doctor nearby, if I get sick or any accident will occur?
5-10 min drive from both lodges and Holmen cottage there is a very good medical center. You will find the medical center here. If you need immediately help, call 112.
Do I need a travel insurance?
Here at Olderø we recognize that when traveling to far-off places, things happen that our company, ourselves, and our customers cannot always control. For that reason, we strongly recommend that our clients purchase trip insurance before you are coming til Lakselv.
Do I tip the guides at the staff at Olderø fly fishing lodge?
Tipping is discretionary. However, if you would like to show your appreciation for a great service, we suggest.
30-50 Euro per guest per day for all house staff.
50-75 Euro per guest per day for you guide.
Therefore, the total suggested amounts add up to 80- 125 Euro per person per day. Gratuities for the guide staff and house staff should be handed to the Camp Manager.
