Meet the guides
Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge is happy and proud to be able to present the best guide team in Lakselv. They are all very experienced and professional guides. They will provide you with coffee/tea, soft drinks, or beer while fishing. They speak all English and are experts on single- and two-handed casting, fishing techniques and of course the fly choice of the day. They will be at your service with the one goal of making your fishing more productive and enjoyable. Having a dedicated guide with you full-time will drastically improve your chances of success.
Our guides are constantly at the river during the season and know where and how to find the fish. Furthermore they are a confident and experienced help when fighting and landing fish. There is probably nothing worse than loosing a big fish because of difficulties in landing it alone. When it comes to wading, we always put safety first. Our guides know the river, and will show you were to wade and where to watch out.
In addition to that, we strongly believe that good company only makes your trip better.
The Guides
Mads Ramsdal / Guide
Mads is 39 years old and comes from Hjørring in Denmark. He has been fishing salmon and seatrouts all his live. His father took him to the Norwegian salmon rivers, when he was 6 years old and Mads has returned to the Norwegian rivers every year since. He started with fly-fishing, when he was only 8 years old! Mads has eight seasons of experience guiding on the Gaula river – Kregnes. This is his third season on the Olderø fly fishing Lodge.
Per Tronde / Guide
Per, or Pelle as he is called, comes from Ostersund in the middle of Sweden, where he lives with his girlfriend and two daughters. He has guided on several salmon and seatrout destinations, including Rio Grande, Ponoi, Gaula and Orkla. His experience combined with his hard work ethics makes him a guide to remember. Besides being in and around water he likes a good laugh, fly-tying, music and spending time with family and friends. This will be Pelle’s third season with us.
René Gerken / Camp Manager / Guide
René comes from a job at Atlantik & Diana Fishing Tours in Denmark, where he was the sales agent and tour leader to many destinations around the world. He also worked for four years as a guide for the West Ranga River Lodge and many other rivers in Iceland plus one year in Rio Gallegos in Argentina. René is one of the few guides in Scandinavia who is a Master and Two-Handed casting instructor in the FFI, so if you have questions about casting, he is the guy to ask. He also has five years of experience working in a tackle store in Denmark, where he attained a great knowledge of modern and traditional fly-fishing tackle. He has worked with us non-stop for the last five seasons, and this year is his second as a Camp Manager.
Christian Lindström / Guide
Christian or Chris to everyone was born and raised in Sweden, or maybe at a fishing lodge looking at his CV. With 10 full seasons in the bag from Russia and Norway, salmon is something he breaths. One of the most skilled fly tiers and guides in the industry. To have a chat with Chris about salmons and their behavior makes your eyebrows go up. He thinks of them as a fish and not a mythological creature he says, so why make it more difficult than it already is? If you ask Chris what rod you should use his standard answer would be- “The longest rod you have sir”. Our guide also goes under the name Big Fish Chris in some places around the globe. He has had the luck (or skill) to often get to be there and net some real monsters. We are so lucky to have him the 6th season now!
