Week 27: 2018

9th of July 2018 – After a rather slow start on the season we have seen a lot of fish coming into the river and our waters in the last half of the week, again this week we have had a group of good friends fishing Olderø waters, they had some good action to all rods this week, despite many of them were lost after long fights, among those fish we hooked a +20kg fish in one of our upper beats on a small surface fly, but after more than 40 min of an epic fight that the angler will newer forget it just came of without the angler did anything wrong leaving the angler and guide devastated on the bank.! Another fish took the fly in the upper part of Homepool and then just decided to run for the ocean leaving the angler with more than 100 meters of backing out of the reel before it was lost further down, due to the angler simply couldn’t follow it fast enough.

We have had some really mixed weather this week with days were the air temparature didn’t come over 7 degrees, for the next days to go to more than 25 degrees, this is just how it is up here in the arctic and this is what makes the place so special, currently the water temperature is 13 degrees and water level just under 12 cubic which makes the fishing easy with floating lines, long leaders and small flies, but up here it changes very fast and before you know it you can end up fishing light sinking lines or intermediate lines again, hopefully the weather stays on the warm side and the runs continues as they have done the last days on every high tide, then surely we will see some more action.
