Week 34/35: End of the salmon season
10th of september 2019 – The season is almost over. We are at the time of writing 10 days into the Seatrout season, during which we are only allowed to use floating lines, 0,25 mm leaders and size 10 hooks and up. The last guests of the season arrive tomorrow and they will be fishing until Sunday the 15th of September. Thereafter we will close down the lodge for the winter.
In week 34 we had visitors from Switzerland, Iceland and from Denmark. Low water level in the river and no signs of rain made the fishing very difficult, but we got fortunately a nice salmon of 12.5 kg taken on our new beat “The Bakery” on a Sunray.
Almost everyone got salmon and sea trout, however, they were all smaller fish, and as always, some larger fish were lost, but all in all a very nice week with some very good old friends in the lodge.
In week 35 we had for the 5th time visit by a mixed group from Denmark, Sweden and Poland all of whom know each other. Matheus from Poland became top rod with 3 good fish between 80 and 105 cm. As we always say, it is not the numbers of salmon that you should come here for, but for the size of the salmon we have here in Lakselv, it showed this week very well as 2 from the group caught their biggest salmon ever with us after many years of searching for a big salmon.
Guides and staff at the Lodge say thank you all very much for 2 good weeks that we will never forget and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
If you want to be one of the very few fishing our waters next season as we have a few options throughout the season, please contact us on gerken@oldero.no
