Week 27 - Owners week
Due to Covid-19 and the travel restrictions the season started late for us. Week 27 was the first week with guests. and it was our owner with friends who came again to fish with us.
We are exited to be back at the river, with a lot less water than last year, but hopefull that the big fish already settle in our pools. During the week we experienced record heat wave, with temperaturs peaking at the 34,5 degrees, so conditions where not ideal, but the moral was high and the staff and guides where ready for the season to kick off.
The first couple of days where a little bit slow, but on the Tuesday Trond got a big fish on the hitch at Bakery. That was a good way to start out the season fish vice. We saw a few fish in our pools, probably due to the extreme high sun and warm weather and in addition low water. This year we have a great addition to the guide team, Morten Have Hansen from Denmark and he and his guests Geir-Over where in to a real Lakselv treat on Wednesday. They saw a massive fish at Ratama, and they covered the fish a couple of times and finally it took a red francis stripped fast trough the pool. After a long and very nervous fight, they could finally land Geir-Oves personel best, a big 113 cm fish that tippet the scale at 15,3 kg.
While we where fighting the elements, the guests we enjoying our chefs food and the hospitaly of our new staff, Lea and Zuzana.
During the week we had a couple of shots to some fish, but unfortunately we lost them. On the last night our owner went to Bakery with his guide and on the first round he caught a beautiful fresh 85 cm with sea lice. The fish took a small Monkey and gave a good fight on the light gear.
On the sunday we had to say goodbye to all our guests, but early in the morning Trond was eager to catch a one more fish, and he went to Bakery and again on the first round he caught a 73 cm fresh fish.
The weather forecast looks promising for next week, with cloudy weather, so hopefully the fish will be more willing to take our flies.
