Summary 2020
The 2020 season at Olderø fly fishing Lodge will not be forgotten to numerous reasons.
The whole spring we where still not sure if the lodge would be open for our guests due to Covid-19. We worked night and day to understand and better our situation to make this possible. Unfortunately we had to roll some of our regular guests to next year. This of course opened the doors to new friends who where apple to visit us within the Norwegians travel restrictions. Sadly the restrictions changed during the whole season and we had to adapt.
During all the pandemic challenges, we also experienced a nature phenom. Lakselv river reached extraordinary water hights in this years spring flood. Studies showed that it was a so called 200 years flood, which resulted in a lot of damage and restructure to the river and its surroundings. We had to figure out our waters again, due to trees, roots and ect. placed in some of our pools. We also lost our beloved suspension bridge, that could not withstand the power of nature. The 100 year old bridge has been a connection to Olderø and have also been used by thousands of anglers spotting the big salmon runs coming into Lakselv.
These two big things where more or less forgotten when the river had settled, the first could come and fishing picked up. Through the whole season the fishing has been fantastic. Good numbers of fish, a lot of big ones personal bests and first time catches. We could not have asked for a better season, of course there has been lows, but the Olderø staff, chef, maids and guides where always there to keep an high moral until the next take.
Taking everything into consideration the 2020 season was very successful. We have been trough a lot, but due to all of your support and patience we came out on top. This gives us big hopes for the upcoming season where our main lodge Olderø is fully booked, but we still have available rods at our self-catering lodge Stangnes.
Interested in Stangnes? Please have a look here or contact our Camp Manager here.
We all are looking forward to next season and trough the whole winter please follow us on Facebook, Instagram and our website to get the latest news.
Best regards from the Olderø staff and stay safe until we can swing the fly again in Lakselv.
