Week 34 : The Norwegians are here
This week we welcome 7 anglers from Bergen in Norway, and Jon from Reykjavik in Iceland, some of them had visited us before and some of them was new guests at Olderø.
After a fantastic 2 weeks of fishing the expectations where very high both for the guides and the guests. The week started out with a blast with Trond losing his dream fish on Holmen, due to line complications. Rolf had a little bit more luck in the next session, as he hooked into a jumpy male, that weighted 10 kg. Rolf day wasn’t over as he went to home pool, and landed a 7 kg fresh sea liced fish at the top part of the pool.
It seems like that there where a lot of fish that day and we caught several smaller fish.
Unfortunately the fish turned of and after this we only saw plenty of fish in all our pools, but getting them to take was another case.
After a couple days of silence Guttorm hooked into a 8 kg fresh fish at Ratama that took a small green Frances fly in the end of the swing. Robert fished Ratama on the same day and he hooked a monster that was more than 15 kg, but after a strong fight he lost it just at the net.
We manage to land a few grilse the day after, but the last couple of days was very tough due to strong winds and sunny weather. Trond was the only one to manage to catch a fish in the end of the week, a very beautiful 60 cm sea trout, and that was his biggest ever. I big congratulation to him, and the fish just shows that we also have some nice sea trout in Lakselv.
This week was one of the most difficult weeks we had this year and we hope the fishing will improve for next week as the river and weather looks very promising.
