Week 35 : Last week of the salmon season
Days before this week was quite hectic due to new Covid-19 restrictions. We unfortunately could´t welcome back the usual group we had the last 5 years. Hope to see all of you again next year.
This opened the doors to new guests to fish Olderø, which included Thomas, Mawill, Claus and David.
It did not take long for our guests to find the way to the Lakselv salmon. Thomas caught a fresh sea liced 10,6 kg and 98 cm salmon on 6 to 6 after he saw it rolled in the surface. It was his first salmon over 10 kg this year, so he was very satisfied and his week was already saved. In the afternoon Mawill went to Ratama, where we have seen a lot of fish the whole season. Here he only needed 2 casts before he hooked into a 12,6 and 102 cm female salmon. He played it very hard and after a short fight he could release it into the wild again.
This was a great start of the week and the old fish were active due to fresh fish running in all our pools.
Claus woke up early to fish our home pool before breakfast and he lost a good fish. Unfortunately this was the tail of Claus week, loosing another good one at the Bakery, but still managed to land a grilse and some sea trout.
David came to Lakselv in persue of his personal best, a 1 meter fish. On the second day at Holmen he fished the last round before dinner and 5 min before we had to go to the lodge, his reel was screaming. After a good fight the guide could land David´s to date biggest Atlantic salmon, a stunning 14 kg beauty.
Fishing was stabile with a 7 kg fresh salmon from Holmen and some grilse landed on all our beats.
Mawill and David had some good fishing in the end of the week. Mawill was on the spot again on Holmen and landed a brutal 12,5 kg and 102 cm male fish. David on the last day had a take out of this world on The Bakery. Both his fishing partner and the guide saw the whole fish in the surface before hammering his fly. Not the biggest fish, but a very cool experience for all 3 guys.
As always the guests enjoyed the food made by our master chef Sasha, and he was treating them with good local food the whole week. We can’t think of anything better than a week of good salmon fishing and world class food.
The water level was stabile in between 18 m3 and 15 m3 during the whole week.
We have two more salmon days before the sea trout season begins. Looking forward to see what that will bring.
